Our 2nd grade classroom is using Franklin Covey’s The Leader in Me program to foster and develop personal leadership. It teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.  All students have the capacity to lead in their own lives and affect those around them by making positive choices. Written to appeal to their grade level, students are presented with fun activities designed to get them thinking. 

 

Eagle Ridge and our classroom theme for the year centers around the book, "The 7  Habits for Happy Kids." Our Class will continue to set personal goals, be proactive versus reactive, learn humility, how to prioritize, become an independent thinker, gain confidence, learn about and practice effective communication, value differences in themselves and others, and how to achieve balance. These will be topics that we will discuss regularly throughout the year. 

 

Your child is taking part on an exciting journey and our hope is that you will ask your child how he/she is doing along the way. Having your child reteach the content to you will give him/her an even deeper understanding and will give both of you an opportunity to learn together!
